How much is intelligent worming

The remaining programme will ensure that you don't waste any money on ineffective worming and that every penny you spend is worthwhile. This covers monitoring programmes and low level infections, and includes all faecal egg counts and wormers, the free home delivery service of all your products. You do have the option of sourcing your own wormers if you would like to. This is a completely different scenario as most owners once they know that their horse has a disease will want to treat it effectively.

Joined 21 May Messages Is anyone on here on a yard with the intelligent worming programme? Does anyone else have any views on the intelligent worming programme, good and back, would be interested to hear.

Thanks In advance. Joined 23 October Messages 1, I spoke to them when I was overhauling my own worming programme - I managed to get costings off them eventually and was quite shocked by it! I had done a lot of my own research into the topic and so I was well aware of what needed doing when. In the end I opted to use Westgate Laboratories for my worm counts and then shop around for my Wormers.

I Worm count March, June and September - worm if needed. At the time I thought it useful for a yard owner to have somebody organise for everybody as it took the onus off them, but mine are at home in a closed herd, with well managed paddocks. So that extra precaution really isn't necessary. The British Veterinary Association advises that all horse owners and yard owners take the approach that we have developed with Intelligent Worming, as this is now considered to be the most responsible method of worm control, with an ever increasing worm resistance issue.

It is very difficult to know what is going on inside your horse where worms are concerned. You can't see it, and when horses look 'wormy' the damage is too late. Faecal egg counts are a good indicator but only if they are used correctly. With Intelligent Worming you will find out what is going on, and sometime why it is happening. You will get answers to your questions, such as:. Worms can remain in their larval stage for up to two years, and we schedule the egg counts so that they detect worm development as it occurs.

Also as each horse has a different natural immune system they will all react to the same levels of worm larvae in the pasture in a different way. This is another reason why worming all horses that graze together with the same wormer at the same time is no longer encouraged. The wormer will stop working in each of them at a different time on a different day, and the owners have no idea when this occurs.

It also does not kill all of the larvae within the horse and worm activity will continue despite being wormed. Intelligent Worming is not a magical solution to worm control. It is a system that has been developed over the last 10 years with the UK's leading parasitologists as a solution to the worming problems that face horse owners in the UK today.

It is more than just a worming programme. Intelligent Worming is a fully comprehensive service that includes the design and ongoing management of your worming programme. Once you have registered we do all the work for you. Every programme is individually written for your horse or yard and uses a scientific diagnostic process to ensure it is absolutely the right one.

We also offer specialised programmes for donkeys, veterans, broodmare and foals, who need a rather different approach to parasite protection. This includes the initial risk assessment and programme design, the ongoing management of the programme, all wormers and worm egg counts. Everything, even the delivery, is included. No wonder it is the fastest growing alternative to traditional chemical worming.
