This enables him to observe the world without jumping to conclusions. Belief and intuition are replaced with clarity of vision and understanding. The enlightened person has great inner strength. He has learned healthy ways of connecting with the sources of spiritual nourishment -- through healthy interactions with people, and within. He no longer has a need for the power struggles that most of us engage in.
The enlightened person is a leader. Having awakened to the point of understanding the nature of suffering, he realizes his duty to help other people find freedom from suffering.
He leads by example, rather than control. People follow him because of who he is and what he stands for. They want to be more like him. The enlightened person is mindful of his health -- physical, mental, and emotional. He knows that his mind, body, and spirit must be in harmony in order to maintain his spiritual condition.
He has developed an understanding of physical and mental health, and doesn't blindly depend on others for his health.
He is mindful of the nutrients and substances he puts into his body. The enlightened person never forgets how he achieved enlightenment. He is also aware that it takes continuous effort to remain that way. It takes a great deal of spiritual nourishment to help others along their path, so he's aware that he needs to replenish his spiritual strength on a daily basis.
Otherwise, he'll lose his effectiveness as a spiritual messenger. Overall, the enlightened person is mindful of himself, and the world around him. Furthermore, he is curious and willing to continue learning. He is aware that even though he can see with great clarity, developing an understanding of the true nature of our existence takes time to observe and investigate.
This is not a comprehensive list of the qualities of an enlightened person. But I think these are the most prominent. My purpose for examining these qualities is to give us a compass to guide us in our spiritual journey -- a vision of the path that lies ahead.
From this list, it seems clear that enlightened people live rich and fulfilling lives. You know the cock gets up in the morning and makes a lot of noise. But the big things happening in existence do not make any noise.
So enlightenment also happens quietly without any noise — no big firecrackers happening, very quietly from one dimension to another. In the garden the flower quietly blooms but once it has bloomed you cannot ignore it; it is significant. The fragrance and the beauty of it is undeniably there. So similarly enlightenment, blossoming from one dimension to another happens very quietly, but when it happens, the moment you notice it, it is a very big thing.
You cannot ignore it. Dear Sadguru, It is very clear what we must do to attain enlightenment. But to do it we are finding it difficult. It is not the memory which makes a person self-realised, it is lack of identification with the memory that makes someone self realised.
You are an enlightened being! Wanna be part of Samayama Program on 23rd of Feb Bless me shower Your grace upon me and somehow let me be with You for those 7Days Make it happen for me I guess I have delayed already so much.. What stupid statement it is!. Sadguru not dispelling your darkness but making you feel darkness is light He and the so called tape recorder teachers will define as what i defined Guru means dispeller of darkness and then satguru means, they will get into wiki and do the copy paste..
Anyways all i am saying as enjoy with your virtual state.. As far as i understood there is no such enlightenment. You guys become a prey already for his lust of money..
Lack of identification and lost identity are 2 different things. If u get hit on the head and lose ur consciousness you are a dumb vegetable, but dissolving your identity into oneness and being aware is being realised.
The word Thank you does not convey my full gratitude. I am short of words. All your words - teachings.. Please just shake me upside down, take out all the crap from me, leave me empty. Hit me so hard that the 'I' goes off. What to do for this? I just surrender. Do what you want to do with this. By taking responsibility to the split the elements you try to own the body. U r not the body, u r just the being. When your existence becomes obsolete there is nothing left for you to do but just leave in dissolution.
People want "fireworks" for everything. The 4th of July. An overpriced marriage ceremony. Cake and presents on their bday. Halftime celebrations. In the end it all signifies nothing. It's just a way to waste time and neglect inner work. Of course that will anger your ego because it loves to have attention on itself. In this state one lives their life full of compassion with everyone in the world as their equal.
Some people refer to this level of consciousness as enlightenment; however in my experience there is still further one can go. From this level of awareness the dance of life becomes that Divine comedy I mentioned earlier. It is not a simple trick to shift your perception to this heightened state of awareness.
It is for this kind of leap in perspective that an experienced teacher is extremely helpful. Once attained it is not likely that you will hold this enlightened point of view. The first time it may only last a few minutes or a couple hours.
But once you have experienced this viewpoint you can bookmark it so you know where to evolve your consciousness in the future if you desire. Like opening your heart or being consciously happy, it often happens only for moments in the beginning. As you consciously practice those moments become longer and with less time in between until it is your normal state of being.
You will still be walking around with a quiet peaceful mind and love and happiness flowing out of you. With a fully compassionate mind there is no failure, disappointment, or sense that your journey has been wasted.
The benefit of a quiet mind and experiencing your love coming out of you is enough to satisfy you everyday of your life. Enlightenment or not. When I describe that an enlightened person laughs at people some people are confused.
This type of interpretation usually comes from the mask of the victim or judge personality. There is laughter, but it is not without love and compassion. Most often the laughter is only expressed inward. Outward it may only appear as a calm smile.
It can be funny listening to children make up ridiculous things. You love the children but you know that they are not aware enough to know what they are doing. They make you laugh while you adore them and their stories of fantasy. You love the dog and you laugh at its antics. Their antics might even make you love the dog more.
When you see a human chasing stories and illusions in the mind it can also be funny. With awareness it is clear that believing in the illusions is ridiculously funny. You laugh at their antics. At the same time their illusions about relationship and a false self image may be causing them emotional suffering. The emotional suffering aspect is not funny. Enlightenment allows us to be compassionate while at the same time being aware that the end of suffering can be just a shift in perspective away.
If you desire to become enlightened I suggest that you break up your journey into some smaller steps. The first task is to practice love and become happy. Enlightened people are both happy and loving. A simple step towards being loving is to accept where you are on your journey of conscious evolution. It might seem counter productive to accept yourself just as you are when you are striving for consciousness.
Enlightened people accept themselves just the way they are. This begins by being aware of any self critical thoughts and then deciding that they are not true. The second act of acceptance is to accept other people and the world as they are. Enlightened people love and accept others just the way they are too. This also begins with being aware of thoughts and opinions and deciding not to believe them. Do what enlightened people do and you will be headed in their direction.
If you are finding it challenging to be completely accepting of yourself and the world it is likely that you are stumbling over self importance issues and agreements in the mind. These are likely to show up through the inner judge and victim that make up the voice in your head. To overcome these obstacles to happiness and love you will need to identify and change these stories of the personality.
Once you have taken care of this bit of business you will be happy in your life and love will be easy. After that enlightenment just becomes a matter of expanding your consciousness to the point of view of Infinite. This is just something the inner judge does. What is enlightenment? Meaning of Enlightenment One of the problems in explaining enlightenment is that we have to use words.
Words only have meaning if you already have an experiential knowledge of what the words mean. If you were blind could you understand color through just words? Can you describe music to someone using only words?
