Getting it wrong and letting a chick die is just the worst feeling. There's no blood or screaming or over admonition or even dark music. All that happens is the mother puts her wings to her face in horror.
It cuts right through me every time. What have I done? Screwing things up is regular, but only occasionally is a puzzle obtuse - most of the time you can ascertain what approximately needs to go where with a glance, but setting up the mechanism to work as it is supposed to is another matter, and increasingly one of frantically dashing around the place.
Even so, it's always ultimately about getting your babies and yourself to the exit unharmed, which makes the fact Offspring Fling never becomes boring or rote all the more impressive. There's a carefulness to the level design that ensures variety will never departing from its own internal logic. This is not a flexible game. There is only ever a single solution. That's why it works so well - that aha!
Occasionally I hit a bump in the road, where a new tactic hadn't been signposted usually, there's a telltale clue in the level name , which meant I had to skip ahead to a future level.
That's a good, frustration-free way around the fixed key-in-lock puzzle structure, although at some point you'll need to revisit skipped stages if you want to unlock all the later ones.
Hopefully you'll come back armed with new techniques you've learned in the intervening levels, though. Only one level in twenty feels obtuse, as Offspring Fling has a clear intention to offer enthusiastic progress rather than brutal challenge. It's got very much an iOS game feel, in that once beating every level is eminently possible but if you want the magic gold star that tells the world you're a super-amazing person and we should all bring you tributes you're in for a serious, not putting a foot wrong challenge.
The sound effects are also nice and compliment the game well. Visually, Offspring Fling looks particularly nice. The graphics were designed in a way that gives the game an authentic hand-drawn look. Periodically during some of levels, it will be also be raining in the background.
Unfortunately, the resolution options are limited. If you want to play the game in full screen, prepare for either black bars on the side of your screen or for having the visuals stretched. Morally, Offspring Fling is about as clean as it gets. Both the mother and her children also have the ability to die by the toxic acid and enemies they encounter, but all that is seen is a small explosion, nothing graphic. Other than that, the only character in the game that dies is final boss.
All the other enemies in game only have the ability to be momentarily stunned when you fling your offspring at them. If you enjoy platformers, Offspring Fling is as good a choice as any. Playing through the main levels should only take a few hours, but going for fast times adds a lot more to lifespan of the game. Offspring Fling looks nice, sounds great, and plays well, and I highly recommend you check it out.

Each level also has a gold time, which gets you the Gold Flower, as well as an even more difficult developer time, which gets you the Rainbow Flower. A Gold Flower is realistically obtainable, most of the time. On Steam, the game supports badges and cards and boasts a total of 10 achievements. As I said, Offspring Fling is relatively short, but the point is to repeat the levels in order to master them and finish them as fast as possible.
There are exceptions, though. Some levels require you to find an alternate, not as obvious solution in order to break record time. This was my thought for the first fifteen or so levels.
The controls felt stiff, the solutions were too simple and there was almost no danger to the level. After a while, I figured out I can pick up multiple babies. This realization made the game slightly less annoying. This thought slowly started to set in around level 15, but gained a lot more ground around level 30 or so. You can see all your flowers and chicks in your garden. At this point, I was about 2 hours in, but my nephew got interested to, so I let him play for a while from level one.
